57-year-old Steven Dockery, of Knoxville, been taken into custody following a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened on Clinton Highway Saturday afternoon.
At around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to Clinton Highway at Bradshaw Garden Road for a crash involving a motorcycle. Witnesses reported that the other involved vehicle had left the scene. Further investigation, including a review of nearby video footage, determined that the suspect vehicle was a black Chevrolet Uplander.
The motorcycle driver, an adult man, sustained critical injuries in the crash and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
Based on the investigation being led by KPD crash reconstruction personnel, it is believed that the Uplander was traveling north on Clinton Highway and attempted to turn left onto Bradshaw Garden Road, pulling into the path of the southbound motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Uplander, which then continued west on Bradshaw Garden away from the scene of the crash.
Approximately two hours after the crash occurred, officers located the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex on Mystic River Way. Once there, officers made contact with Dockery, who was positively identified as the driver involved in the crash.
Dockery exhibited signs of being under the influence and was subsequently taken into custody for multiple charges, including vehicular homicide by intoxication and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
The crash remains under active investigation.
